The chocolate truffles got their name from the Latin word ‘mass corrumpit’ which means ‘lump’. The truffles and mushrooms are similar in the name because of the resemblance they share in shape. The first time they were made in a crude way that looked like a chocolate lump known as chocolate truffles. This amazing creation of a chocolate truffle came from the skills of a French Patisserie. However the truffles are made in multiple ways but the classic truffles are either dark, black, or white in color. The truffles look much better when they look more homemade and rougher.

The two stories behind the creation of truffles

The first story is related to the French Patisserie who was Louis DuFour. It all happened when he tried to surprise his customers with something new and tasty. Therefore in order to follow his

idea he prepared a delicious thick syrup from chocolate known as ganache that he molded into spheres. He then rolled these spheres in Cocoa powder. This step was done in order to make them easier to touch and also something that does not melt while held in hand. And as a result of this surprise creation, it turned out to be a delicious chocolate truffle that everyone loved. The second story is related to Ganache. Ganache is actually a thick icing sauce or filling for pastries that are prepared with chocolate and cream. The creation of ganache was also a creation that came out of a scrumptious accident caused by Auguste Escoffier. He was an assistant patisserie who by mistake poured the bowl of the hot cream into the lumps of chocolate. This was the first way of ganache making now there are different ways of making ganache. Later on, the patisserie cooled the paste mold them into small balls and then rolled them into cocoa. Ganache is an important ingredient for truffles which nowadays is easily made by boiling heavy cream and then pouring the hot cream over the chocolate. Later on, this mixture is chilled and used depending on the requirement of the recipe.

For truffles, this filling of ganache is often replaced by

The Mystery of truffles

The mystery of truffles actually refers to both the outer coating and inner flavor. Some truffles are coated with chocolate on the outside but when you taste them it turns into something fruity. This combination of fruit and chocolate results really good and tasty for the person who loves both of these ingredients.

What is the chocolate truffle cake?

The chocolate truffle cake turns out to be pretty delicious when it is flavored with multiple combinations of chocolate and cream. The chocolate truffle cake is made up of pure chocolate containing three to four layers. This chocolate cake is then topped with truffles or ganache. But the new advancements and creations by multiple patisseries have changed it to a new level. The chocolate truffle cake is mostly seen at weddings and Valentine's day.
